Guided Tours

Public guided tours are being handed over to the Battle of Stamford Bridge Society for this season now. However private guided tours for historical societies and visitor organisations can still be prebooked all year round with me personally.

For detailed information on the personal guided tours of Stamford Bridge (information for the other battlefields will be forthcoming) please either contact me direct via the email on battlegroundyorkshire@live.co.uk or leave your responses on this blog.

Stamford Bridge tour details:

Meeting point will be at the entrance to the free public car park in Viking road, (on the right just over the bridge as you enter the village from York). I don't ask for payments but any donations would be appreciated. The aim of the tour is to build a case for better visitor information and a higher profile for this very important battle. New publishing and marketing material is being designed and a dedicated website would be ideal.

I recommend good stout walking wear for the tour and any dogs or children to be well supervised. Most of the walk is on well paved, firm ground, except for the riverside path which may be wet and muddy depending on weather conditions. Visitors with difficulty walking or in a wheelchair may find the riverside walk part inadvisable. The basic walk should take around 60 to 90 minutes depending on numbers and conditions, but, there is an extra walk which could take another hour which includes the walk over the railway viaduct.

Please get in touch for further information or details for a private bespoke tours. All tours are subject to change or cancellation depending on factors outside of my control.
